Hyper Light Drifter: The Role Playing Game, also known as Hyper Light Drifter: Tabletop Role-Playing Game, is an official tabletop role-playing game being developed by Metal Weave Games, based on the Hyper Light Drifter video game developed by Heart Machine. The game is on a different continent from the one the game takes place on and features dice-rolling, traits, a dashing mechanic, combat sessions and more. For character creation there are a number of ways to customize; including the choice between most of all the canon species of the Hyper Light Drifter universe, different knacks and quirks, classes and more. The game is designed single-handedly by Andreas Walters of Metal Weave Games, with feedback from fans on his Discord server. Walters has also made most of the art for the game.
According to Walters, in order to have the game follow the canon of the video game's universe he regularly has talks with Alx Preston, the main designer of the video game and the owner and founder of Heart Machine, effectively making Preston a consultant on the project to an extent.
The game was funded through Kickstarter and is set to be released officially in August of 2020- however it is already playable through a playtest which is updated regularly on the official Metal Weave Games website.
